Notes

The remaining parts of the substructure not destroyed with the preceeding bridge built from 1935-37 where re-used where possible. Two piers were added using the same original appearance with concrete interior and sandstone veneer.

Similar to the previous bridge, the deck was built with two separate superstructures, however, the bridge was used as longterm-testbed for two new structural systems for bridges for the time. The bridge serving the motorway in the direction of Göttingen to Kassel was built with a steel-concrete composite deck with lateral prestressing. The other direction (Kassel to Göttingen) was carried by a twin steel plate girders with an orthotropic deck.
