16 May 1792

Opened with a performance of "I giochi di Agrigento" by G. Paisiello.

19th century

The premieres of Gioacchino Rossini "Tancredi" (1813), Vincenzo Bellini's "La Beatrice di Tenda" (1832) and Giuseppe Verdi's "Il Rigoletto" (1851) and "La Traviata" (1853) are performed at the theater.

12 December 1836

The original La Fenice is destroyed by fire.

End of December 1837

The theatre is re-opened after having been reconstructed by the Meduna brothers.

1854

The neo-classical ornaments are replaced in the new Luigi Filippo style.

1936

Radical restoration of the building including the addition of a mechanical stage.

Night of 29 January 1996

A fire completely destroys the building again. The electrical system was being updated to meet general safety regulations.
