Abstract:

New arch bridge for the Koralm Railway.

This paper describes a recently built bridge over the future Koralm Railway in southern Austria. The bridge was designed according to the corporate design requirements of the Österreichischen Bundesbahnen (ÖBB, Austrian Federal Railways). The bridge constitutes concrete cantilevering abutments with two free standing steel arches in a basket handle arrangement. From these arches a composite bridge deck is suspended. In this paper special attention is paid to the production of the arches and the influence it has on the structural design.
