Notes
The vertical lift span is flanked by 3 approach spans on the side of each tower. The new bridge replaces a double leaf bascule, and provides a clear channel of 73m, twice that of the bascule. The single-level structure carries 4 lanes, a single track and a sidewalk. The lift span is powered by two, 100HP motors — one in each tower. The span control is provided by an AC primary thyristor control system, and there is a complete dual system of motors and motor controls for system redundancy. The weight of this span is 6.4 million pounds.
