Chronology
December 2007 | The hotel is closed to undergo a refit to a design by Pierre Yves Rochon (interiors), ReardonSmith Architects (architecture) and Buro Happold (structural engineering), the cost of which is originally budgeted at £100 million. The projected reopening date is later pushed by more than a year to October 2010, as structural and systems problems — the building's façade requiring extensive stabilisation — delay renovation and lead to increased costs (£220 million). |
