| 1985 | A new parallel bridge is built to replace the aging truss bridge. The old bridge is no longer used and falls into disrepair. |

| 2002 | The bridge is included in a restoration plan for historic bridges in Puerto Rico (Plan de Rehabilitación de Puentes Históricos de Puerto Rico). |
| 2004 | After repairs, the crossing is reinaugurated and declared an historic monument. |
