Notes
For the "Paseo Acoxpa", a shopping mall in Mexico City, a very impressive roofing in the form of a louvered ETFE cushion construction was planned and executed in 2018.
Over a length of 67 m and a width of 16 m, the approx.1,500 m² barrel-shaped roof spans the main shopping arcade. A slender steel construction of intersecting girders results in a grid of 248 rhombs in which the transparent ETFE cushions were mounted. The air-supported cushions are interconnected and connected to a blower unit that regulates the air pressure and automatically compensates for weather fluctuations.
The acute angles of the diamond-shaped cushions were a particular challenge. These had to be designed without wrinkles, which required precise planning of the ETFE cushions and a specially developed clamping profile.
