Notes

The dam is still in use today and almost intact. The concrete spillway, 1890, was built in un-reinforced concrete. It is the world's first concrete stepped spillway and the ancestor of modern roller compacted concrete (RCC) stepped spillways.

The present spillway capacity is limited by the inadequate chute sidewall height. Although the crest is supposed to pass 650 m³/s, the spillway sidewall would be overtopped for flows above 278 m³/s, leading to damage and scour at the dam toe.
