Chronology

14 November 1940

The city of Coventry is devastated by German bombings. The cathedral is hit as well and burns almost entirely to the ground.

23 March 1956

Queen Elizabeth II lays the foundation stone for the new cathedral.

25 May 1962

The new cathedral is consecrated in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II.
