Sophisticated scaffolding for new media campus in Berlin
A new media campus is being built for the expansion of the Axel Springer publishing house headquarters in Berlin, which requires heavily loaded shoring during construction due to the complex construction. Shoring and working scaffolds come from a single source.
The publishing house Axel Springer is expanding its corporate headquarters in Berlin between Schützenstrasse, Axel-Springer-Strasse, Zimmerstrasse and Jerusalemstrasse to include a center for digital media. The new building will be constructed as an office and commercial building with 11 full floors, two basement floors and a roofscape with a roof pavilion. A central component of the complex will be the approximately 40 m high atrium, lined on both sides by terraces and opening onto the existing Axel Springer company headquarters. The two halves of the building will be connected by a bridge in the center of the building.
Teupe & Söhne Gerüstbau GmbH was commissioned with the erection of shoring, heavy-duty supports and other scaffolding work. The scope of the contract includes the complete planning and preparation of design drawings, structural calculations and technical processing, as well as the assembly and disassembly of the scaffolding.
- Provision of a total of 5,000 m² of working and protective scaffolding for roof and facade work
- Execution of 12,000 m² of steel tube frame scaffolding for concrete and reinforced concrete work in the building
- Establishment of shoring for the atrium, height approx. 40 m. 230 shoring columns with up to 5,000 kN individual load capacity
- will be used.
- 140,000 m³ of shoring for concreting work with up to 30 KN load capacity per m²
- Provision of 20 pieces of craneable scaffolding
- 9,500 m³ of room scaffold erection for roofing work
- Establishment of stair towers with a walking width of 0.60 m in the space scaffolds
The new construction was started in November 2016. Completion is scheduled for June 2019.
