Pedro Pablo Arroyo Alba trained as architect, engineer and urban planner. He has obtained a PhD in Architecture by The Polytechnics University of Madrid, Spain, and a PhD in Engineering by The University of Tokyo, Japan. Post-Doctorate Researcher in Science & Technology for the European Commission. Visiting Researcher at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, and the University College London, Great Britain. He has lectured and taught a number of architecture workshops in Italy, Germany, Thailand, Korea, Japan and China. He is founding partner of CA-Group Shanghai and its Design Director until 2010. That year, he joined the School of Architecture of the Universidad Europea de Madrid, where he has been appointed Director of International Programs, Head of the Architectural Department, Academic Director of Architecture, Building Engineering and Civil Engineering, and Director of the new Professional MasterĀ“s Degree in Architecture. He is also frequent collaborator of some of the most prestigious international publications.
His architecture and urban designs have received several national and international awards, and have been exhibited and published worldwide. Among them, the Pucang Pedestrian Bridge in Qingpu, his first public project in China, was awarded during the X Spanish Architecture Biennale organized by the Architects Association of Spain as one of the 34 best buildings of the year designed by a Spanish architect worldwide, received the Leonardo 1st Prize, and was selected for the JAS exhibition (Young Architects of Spain) and the WAF. The Xidayinggang Twin Bridge in Qingpu, has obtained the Steel Structure Award of Shanghai (first prize) from the Shanghai Steel Structure Association, and the Steel Structure Award of China from the Chinese Construction Metal Structure Association.
