Notes & Comments
The "Dare Truss" bridge span is a development of the timber/steel Allan Truss of Percy Allan (q.v.) in that the timber bottom (tension) chord is replaced by steel. From 1905 to 1936, 40 Dare truss road bridges were built in NSW, 27 of which survive in service in 2004.
