Abstract:

Proof of spatial stability of the building

The verification of building bracing in accordance with EC2, including the national annex [1, 2] for torsional loads, with exception in specific cases of pure warping torsion (&kgr; = 0) and Saint Venant torsion (&kgr; = ∞), leads to results that deviate up to 34 % of the exact solution and generally may be incorrect. Based on exact calculation, it is rather a verification according to theory II. regulation required according to EC2 [1, 2].
In addition to the exact calculation, modified labilitynumbers have been added, with which the stability performance as well as the vibrational characteristics of a building can be appropriately assessed. Furthermore, there is a closed formulized solution for the lability numbers, of which the exact calculation deviates less than 3 %.
This procedure is illustrated by means of an example. Operational indications complete these versions.
