Abstract:

Viaducts on the section Admuz-Villanueva from the high speed railway Madrid-Sevilla

The new High-Speed Railway Madrid-Sevilla crosses Sierra Morena through a rugged zone. Its special orography determine the construction of eight viaducts, some of them jumping over over deep valleys. The deck of all viaducts is done by a continuous Box-Girder. The construction method consists in launching from an abutment. The piers have been erected with slip-form construction. The structures are provided with special devices in order to transmit strong horizontal loads due to breaking and centrifugal forces. The decks have been desdigned following criterious that will lead to an easy manteinance of the structures.
