Simplified Method to exploit the plastic buckling resistance by introducing an effective plate thickness - explanations and examples.

By introducing an effective plate-thickness both approaches of the Eurocode 3-1-5 to calculate the buckling resistance are merged together. The outcome is a two-step method, which combines the ease of use of the reduced stress method and the high cross-section resistances of the effecticvep width method. This simplified method, which have already been presented in the journal Stahlbau [4], is demonstrated and discussed in detail by a practical example.
