Abstract: |
Education and research - Composite system of up-cycled PUR panels and timber for façade structures. The environmentally friendly combination of new materials and the demonstration of new engineering and architectural possibilities is the goal of a project at the "Department of Conceptual and Structural Design-Composite Structures". An experimental pavilion with a novel composite façade is designed, aiming to improve the durability of timber structures by employing technical and environmental innovations. Therefore a timber frame is combined with up-cycled compressed polyurethane (PUR) panels which again are protected by a 2 to 3 mm thick sprayed polyurethane coating. The pavilion is used for lectures during summertime and at the same time allows researchers to evaluate its innovative façade structure during the coming years. |
