Abstract:

The state of the sound protection against airborne sound and impact sound for multi-storey apartment building in Germany.

In the last decades a growing number of sound sources disturb the German population. One of the three biggest issues is neighborhood noise. Shortly after implementation of the German Standard DIN 4109:1989 two surveys from Lutz and Kötz showed that the requirements given in the Standard are well below to the code of practices build and although well below the demands of the residents. Hence the legal situation was dubios for the engineer planning sound insulation. Since the Standard is now more than 25 years old and there have been no new surveys, the question arises about the height of sound insulation nowadays. Therefor a new German wide survey was started within the framework of a bachelor theses. The findings of this survey will be reported in this article.
