Abstract:

Ship lift Niederfinow - Analysis, manufacture and assembly of the trough.

The steel structure of the trough for the new ship lift in Niederfinow was optimized regarding its weight by using a complex analysis of the serviceability states. At the same time several special load cases had to be taken into account in the analysis. The analysis was done on a finite element model of the trough with different bearing conditions. In order to avoid that the assembling of the counterweights will be the decisive load case a comprehensive ballasting system had to be developed.
During manufacture and assembly of the trough, the low allowable tolerances at the trough ends for the installation of the rotating segment gates were taken into consideration. Manufacturing provisions and a subsequent mobile machining of the relevant plates ensured these requirements.
