Abstract:

Footbridge in Plentzia

The footbridge described has replaced an old stone bridge in bad conditions located in the Plentzia Estuary in Vizcaya. It is a bow-string structure made of steel with a free span of 117,60 m. It has two inclined planes which are tied transverselly by box struts. The lower deck is a composite steel concrete structure formed by two longitudinal box girders, transverse beams and a concrete slab with a maximum depth of 0,16 m. The upper arches and the deck are joined by 46 stays hangers made of galvanized helicoidal cables.-
