Abstract:

Life Cycle Analysis as a part of the assessment of sustainability in industrial construction.

In autumn 2009, the DGNB-certification for industrial buildings was presented officially. Thus, the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) as an important part of the assessment of sustainability will prospectively gain in importance also in the sector of industrial buildings.
The following article contains a comparison of the environmental performance of different construction methods in the sector of industrial buildings, which is quantifiable by the use of LCA, with the help of current available data and methods. Selected results, existing uncertainties and the hence resulting need for research are presented.
