Abstract: |
Minimized structure - maximum benefits. About the design for the new main railway station in Stuttgart A new underground central train station will allow for the integration of Stuttgart into the growing network of high-speed rail traffic in Europe. It follows ecological, economic and technological parameters and provides comfort and security. Its structure is characterized by an elegant concrete-shell construction. The intelligent use of natural energy resources avoids CO₂ emissions. The structure and the lighting cones connect the platform level with the square and park above. Varied and broad views along with the elegance of the supporting structure give the station its unmistakable identity. The form of the modular shell supports is based on a reversed-suspension model. |
