Abstract:

In spite of the fact that planning processes in civil and building engineering are prepared by specialists unintentional iteration cycles occur during the execution phase. Coherences are insufficiently considered, relevant information is partly not used, or information is used that is out of date. The methodology presented in this paper is focused on preparing planning processes. It allows the specification of a target process model for complex planning processes whereas all interdependencies are considered in a consistent way. Each task that has to be executed as a part of the process is modelled independently of other tasks. Algorithms based on the graph theory determine the interdependencies. Results of these algorithms are the sequence of task, the history of data, or the loading of personnel. A model is created that covers the complete logic of the workflow. The model serves as the basis for further tasks like scheduling that have to be executed as a part of a project preparation phase. The methodology is independent of the level of detail that is chosen to prepare the planning process. Subsequent modifications that influence the workflow can be considered so that new target values for the modified planning process can be determined.
