Abstract:

Design and erection of a remarkable steel/composite arch bridge.

The reconstruction of a road bridge at Bruck/Mur near Graz/Austria gives the opportunity to design a remarkable arch bridge with a new type of hangar geometry. The arch spans across the bridge deck and forms a gate for the bridge user. The composite bridge deck consists of two plate girders.
First of all the specific load carrying behaviour of the bridge is represented and the influence on the global analyses is shown. The stability verification of the arch and the design of the pretensioning sequence are discussed. Some interesting construction details are presented. Finally the manufacturing and erection sequence of the bridge is documented.
