Abstract: |
Before the project began, there is an existing Jalan Tun Razak bridge that flies over the Kampong Pandan roundabout below. This project discussed in this article is building a bridge perpenducularly to fly over the existing Jalan Tun Razak bridge and the roundabout. It connects the busy commercial area at Jalan Sultan Ismail with the housing area of Jalan Kampong Pandan. It improves the level of service at the roundabout. The original method of construction is precast segmental construction span by span using an overhead launching gantry. This method was affected by site constraints and dependence of handing over dates of piers by other contractors on the SMART tunnel and KL-Putrajaya Dedicated Highway. By changing the precast segments to combination of insitu method on temporary staging and balanced cantilever form travelers, it overcomes the potential conflict with the other two contractors. BBRM through the use of form travelers and prestressing technology and CEPAS sharp and proven design expertise, have optimised the design and construction method of the superstructure. |
