Abstract:

Greenhouses - The European Design Concept - Background and Application.

Greenhouses are standardised in a German Standard - DIN 11535, since 1958. Their basis of reference is the DIN 1055 series of codes for actions on structures. Since introduction of the new series of codes for actions on structures, the DIN 1055-New, interface problems and inconsistencies exist. With the transition into the Eurocodes, there are now possibilities of using the European design concept on greenhouses on the basis of EN 1990, as already exists for EN 13031-1: 2003-09. In addition to including the nationally related values with respect to actions such as wind and snow as well as the safety concept, the update, the correction, the consolidation and the completion of the design regulations is now possible. The results are presented in this paper for the first time.
