Abstract:

RILEM test evaluation of concrete ffracture energy. A study of energy dissipation at the supports

Actual experimental arrangements may differ appreciably from the ideal design and these are always a limit to the accuracy of the measurements. Here we consider a main source of experimental error; the energy dissipation at the supports, when using the RILEM test for GF measurement. Friction at the supports is an important source of experimental error. Friction coefficients must be kept below 0.02-0.04 for friction to be negligible within 1 percent accuracy. Good rolling supports are needed to achieve these low functional levels.
