Abstract:

Reconstruction of the motorway bridge over the Havelkanal near Brieselang, Germany.

The motorway A10 is routed over the Havelkanal in the western part of the Berliner Ring, a perimeter road, close to the small town of Brieselang. Due to a constructional fault of the bearings the replacement of the old bridge became necessary. Considering all economic and design aspects, a network arch bridge with radial net was chosen as most suitable solution. The paper discusses aspects of conceptual design, tendering and contracting as well as the construction work of the new bridge completed in November 2011.
