Railway bridge Simmerbach - Monitoring of the composite dowels and the rail fasteners in the VFT-Rail system.

A monitoring system is installed at the VFT-Rail pilot bridge over the Simmerbach Valley within the scope of the licensing procedure. It surveys static train loads and dynamic crossings of a test train and of the regular train loads. The focus of the monitoring is set on the rail fastening system of the non-ballast superstructure near the transition to the normal ballast track. The design concept of the composite dowels implemented in the external reinforcement of the bridge is assessed by measuring the nominal stresses in the steel sections.
