Abstract: |
The design concept for the resund Bridge was developed in response to an international design competition for the whole Link, comprising a tunnel, artificial island and bridges. The competition brief was simply to propose "the most beautiful, the best technical and the best environmental solution - within the budget costs that have been agreed by the two Governments". Two design proposals were chosen for further development: ASO's proposal for a two-level bridge; and the OLC Group's proposal for a one-level bridge with the railway placed between the two road carriages. Both these designs were then developed further than had been possible in the short competition period. |
