Abstract:

Café 3440 at the Pitztaler Glacier – Wildspitzbahn, Austria.

Today the new Tyrolean cableways become aware of their architectural and constructional tradition. Brave rocky nest constructions allow overwhelming views to the surrounding
mountain tops and glaciers. The project Wildspitze 3440 of the Pitztaler Gletscherbahnen reaches the highest cableway station of the Eastern Alps. Designed by Architekt Baumschlager, Dornbirn, and constructed by aste | weissteiner, Innsbruck, the erection was marked by short schedule, difficult transport of materials up to 3440 m above sea level, overhanging steel structures and erections and permafrost foundations.
