Abstract: |
This paper describes that Hybrid Seismic Control System is applied in Tall Building “Kioi-tower” we had designed in Tokyo, Japan. Outline of “Kioi-tower” is as followed, 33stories plus 2 penthouses, 5 ground floors. 177.65m high. Total Floor Area: 227,200m², Typical Floor Height: 4.45m or 3.40m. It provides office, hotel and retail. This building has Hybrid Seismic Control System means both viscous dampers and buckling restrained braces (BRBs) are used in the mega structure. Point of the System is below,
Dampers of this system absorb about 15% more energy compared with only steel damper or viscous damper. Structural monitoring system is also installed in this building. This system helps to elongate the life span of the building, and efficiently maintain seismic control devices and earthquake resistance elements easily. |
