Abstract:

The City of Copenhagen has in the recent years prioritized an urban development with green mobility as a focal point, aiming to make Copenhagen a CO₂ neutral city by 2025. The streets of Copenhagen are already known for its many bicycles, and with the City's ambitious bicycle strategy, the City of Copenhagen was awarded in 2015 with the title of being the World's Best Bicycle Town. Copenhagen continues to prioritize bicycles as the main transportation method in the city, prompting more bicycle routes throughout Copenhagen necessitating the construction of several bicycle bridges. As a result, DISSING+WEITLING has designed a number of bicycle bridges in Copenhagen that focused particularly on urban development and landmark effect. Among the most well-known and highly publicized are Bryggebroen, Cykelslangen, Åbuen and Folehaven.
