Abstract: | Pedestrian footbridges are usually flighty structures, however they can be objects of great symbolic significance. Their minor size and cost and its constructive easiness with regard to major bridges make pedestrian footbridges the preferential object to structural design innovation, both materials and types. We have had in our company for the last years the opportunity to design and construct several footbridges in which to apply novel concepts. In this paper we present several recently constructed footbridges: a steel structure cable stayed one, a bow-string arch with two decks, a two span bow string wooden arch and a cantilever type wooden footbridge. Also we will show a proposal of a new suspension footbridge that is actually under projection. |
