Abstract: |
This paper addresses the analysis of the dynamic behaviour of a 130 m high observation tower in Batumi (Georgia) with emphasis on its. The tower is shaped by two concentric cylindrical lattice structures supporting a 27 metre diameter glazed sphere which accommodates the observation deck, a restaurant and a TV studio. The special mass and stiffness distribution of the tower has led to the design of a tuned mass damper to control serviceability and ensure comfort under wind actions. |
