Abstract: |
The internal damping device for stay cables not only effectively saves bridge deck space and enhances the overall aesthetics of bridges, but also plays a crucial role in controlling multi-mode vibrations in ultra-long cables. This paper presents the design of internal damping devices that can be integrated within the cable system, based on the principles and constructions of three different types of dampers. Through full-scale cable model experiments, the effectiveness of these devices in suppressing cable vibrations is validated. Finally, the practical application of these internal damping devices in actual cable-stayed bridge projects is discussed. The results demonstrate their excellent engineering feasibility and practicality, providing diverse solutions for vibration reduction in stay cables. |
