Abstract: Early cracking of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete overlay of a sandwich concrete deck of Shelby Creek Bridge is investigated. Independent numerical checking proved that the bridge design was correct. Shrinkage cracking was enhanced by several factors. This enhancement was due to the special features of the bridge.
