Abstract:

Fibres on Fire - Design Charts for Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete Slabs subjected to elevated temperatures

In general, common structural design has to consider elevated temperatures due to fire. Thereby, cross-sectional design of reinforced concrete takes place w.r.t. valid standards whereas in presence of steel fibres no standardized approach is available so far. In this case the DAfStb-Guideline "Stahlfaserbeton" only refers generally to DIN EN 1992-1-2 in conjunction with DIN EN 1992-1-2/NA. Based on experimental data of reinforced concrete slabs containing variable amounts of steel fibres the influence of fibres on both, the heat transmission of concrete and the temperature dependent load-deformation behaviour are investigated here. Results of experimental and theoretical analysis are used to provide a design chart allowing for the assessment of load bearing capacities of steel fibre reinforced concrete cross sections subjected to elevated temperatures (R90). An example shows the practical application.
