Chronology

15 August 2022

In the morning, the bridge suddenly and completely collapses into the river and onto the E6 road. At the time of collapse a car and a trailer-truck were crossing the bridge. The trailer-truck had a weight of 48 tons in total which did not exceed the posted weight limit of 50 tons. The car driver was able to exit their car without assistance while the truck driver had to be rescued by emergency services an hour after the collapse.

Before the collapse, users had reported rocking of the bridge under large vehicle loads. Inspections in 2021 and 2022, however, did not find any issues.

17 August 2022

Demolition and removal of the collapsed bridge begins.

22 August 2022

The secotion on which the trailer-truck had gotten stuck during the collapse is lowered and the vehicle is driven off the bridge on its power.
