Notes

Located at timberline on Mount Hood (6000 ft, 1829 m elevation). Constructed from native materials as part of government WPA program. 90 percent of laborers were unemployed people. Construction of the lodge cost $695730, overall project costs including road construction is estimated at $1000000.

Other people involved: W.I. 'Ted' Turner (Supervising Forest Service Architect); E.J. Griffith (WPA administrator for Oregon); Dean Wright (interiors and hardware); Margery Hoffman Smith (furnishings); A.D. Taylor (landscaping).

Average snow base of 175 to 200 inches (4.4 - 5.1 m).
