25 June 1929 | Edward H. Ellis Company is awarded the construction of a 1.469 mile long stretch of Route 206 including the Raritan River Bridge. |

1 July 1929 | The contract is signed. The total price is $331 440.35 of which $211 225.97 are for the actual bridge construction. |
12 July 1929 | Beginning of construction. |
23 July 1929 | While excavating the footing for a pier on the south side of the river, a section of the bank collapses. Out of the five workers present, one is injured, suffering broken ribs and internal injuries. |
