Idaho legislature passes a bill authorizing construction of the Capitol building

Construction begins.

Central section is completed.

The inauguration of Governor John M. Haines is held in the new building.

1919 — 1920

Construction of the East and West wings (designed by Tourtellotte and Hummel).

1920

Capitol building is completed.

Notes

Idaho's Capitol building is the only one in the United States heated by geothermal water. The hot water is tapped and pumped from a source 3,000 feet underground.
