Construction of the Grosse Weserbrücke.

The bridge is called Adolf-Hitler-Brücke.

1939 — 1947

The bridge is called "Lüderitzbrücke".

25 April 1945

Dynamited by German troops.

August 1945

Reconstruction begins.

18 March 1947

The unfinished reconstruction is destroyed by heavy ice floating on the Weser.

29 November 1947

Reconstruction is completed and the bridge opened to traffic.

1957

Decision is made to build a replacement bridge.

1958

Construction on a parallel new bridge begins.

22 December 1960

The new bridge (refer to Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke) is opened to traffic.

1961

The "Grosse Weserbrücke" is demolished.
