Chronology
November 1853 | Construction begins. |

December 1853 | First pier is raised. |
April 1855 | A girder slips and falls while being put in place, killing two and injuring one worker. |
December 1855 | Main structural works completed. |
May 1857 | Load testing with 6 locomotives loaded with lead. The maximum deflections were within an inch and a half. |
1928 | Double track is replaced by a single one due to heavier traffic loads. |
1964 | Railway traffic is discontinued on the line. |
13 June 1964 | Last passenger train passes over the bridge. |
Notes
The viaduct no longer exists, but the abutments can still be seen on the valley sides.
