Excerpt from Wikipedia
Avenue N is a local station on the IND Culver Line of the New York City Subway, located at the intersection of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn. It is served by the F train at all times and the train during rush hours in the peak direction.
Station layout
This elevated station, opened on March 16, 1919, has three tracks and two side platforms with the center track not normally used. Both platforms have beige windscreens, green canopies, and brown roofs that run along the entire length except for a small section at the north end where they only contain mesh fences. The station's name and direction signs are in the traditional white helvetica lettering on black plates.
From June 7, 2016, to May 1, 2017, the southbound platform at this station was closed for renovations. The Manhattan-bound platform was closed for a longer period of time, from May 22, 2017 until July 30, 2018.
Exits
This station has two entrances/exits, both of which are elevated station houses beneath the tracks. The full-time side is at the south end and has a single staircase from each platform, waiting area that allows free transfer between directions, turnstile bank, token booth, and two street stairs to the northern corners of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue.
The unstaffed station house on the north end also has a single staircase from each platform, waiting area, and two staircases going down to McDonald Avenue just south of Avenue M. However, only two HEET turnstiles (it formerly had a booth) provide entrance/exit from the station and the staircase landing on the Coney Island-platform has a single exit-only turnstile that allows passengers to exit without having to go through the unstaffed station house.
