Excavation stabilization for new section of Stuttgart 21
Project Approval Section 1.5 is part of a Stuttgart 21 sub-project, the railway project Stuttgart-Ulm. The section refers to the triangle between the train station in Feuerbach, the train station in Bad Cannstatt and the access to Stuttgart Main Station. Project Approval Section 1.5 includes the planned, approx. 9 km long underground long-distance rail and suburban train tracks to Feuerbach, Stuttgart-Nord and Bad Cannstatt.
In Lot 4 of Project Approval Section 1.5, a new district is being connected to public transport. The new district Rosensteinquartier is being created by eliminating the existing above ground tracks in the north of the main station. For this purpose, a new station is being built for all suburban trains in the new district at Mittnacht Street. 1.5 km of the new section are being built using the open cut method, and the new suburban train station is also located in a trough.
Excavations stabilized by strand anchors
The different excavations in Lot 4 North were stabilized using strand anchors. At the area UL 7 at Mittnacht Street Station, the excavation was stabilized using about 13 km of temporary, grouted 3 to 5 strand strand anchors. At the branch-off construction in area UL 8, approx. 9 km of temporary and permanent 3 to 5 strand anchors were installed. For area UL 10, DSI Construction Germany also supplied about 18 km of temporary and permanent, 3 to 5 strand grouted strand anchors.
