69 new towers for the Itarema Wind Park, Brazil
The Itarema Complex in the federal state of Ceará in northeastern Brazil consists of several wind parks. In total, 69 new wind towers consisting of prefabricated concrete segments and rotor diameters of 125 m and 116 m were erected there.
Itarema Wind Park is located near Jericoacoara Beach, which is especially popular with kite surfers due to the strong winds in this area.
207 MW total electrical output
26 wind towers have a hub height of 100 m, 43 towers reach a hub height of 120 m. Each of the wind towers accommodates a 3 MW turbine, so that the total electrical output of the Itarema Wind Park equals 207 MW.
Six tendons were installed from the bottom up in each of the wind towers. Type 56 tendons were used in the 100 m high towers, and Type 62 tendons in the 120 m high towers. In total, DSI Germany produced 414 Wire EX Tendons that were supplied to the jobsite on coils for the 69 wind towers at the Itarema Park.
In this project, the coordination with Acciona Windpower was once again managed by DYWIDAG Sistemas Constructivos (DSC), Spain. The Itarema Complex is the 5th wind park in which Acciona has successfully cooperated with DSI.
