Selimiye mosque in Edirne, Turkey

built by architect Sinan for Sultan Selim II. The mosque is the pinnacle of classical Ottoman building. Sinan called the Princes’ (Şezade) Mosque in Istanbul his apprentice work, the Süleymaniye his journeyman’s work, and the Selimiye his masterpiece. He was 85 when he finished it.
