Impressive expansion joints for the Tappan Zee Bridge
The new Tappan Zee Bridge, officially named the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, is a twin cable-stayed bridge built to replace the original Tappan Zee Bridge over New York's Hudson River. mageba designed and manufactured 23 impressive modular expansion joints and 16 shock transmission units – also known as lock-up devices. The largest joint installed has 18 individual movement gaps which accommodates total longitudinal movements of up to 54 inches or 1.4 meters.
