Eleutheropolis Amphitheater

This later 2nd century CE amphitheater was part of the wealthy city of Eleutheropolis, re-constituted by Septimus Severus as a Roman city in 199/200 CE on the site of Hellenistic Marisa. An amphitheater like this was undoubtedly used to host gladiatorial contests as well as mock battles and mock hunts.
