Hardanger Bridge
The Hardanger bridge, inaugurated in August 2013, spans the Hardanger fjord, between Bu on the south side and Vallavik on the north side. The bridge made it possible to travel for the first time across Hardangervidda from Oslo to Bergen by car without any ferry crossing. It cost some 2.3 billion kroner (nearly 400 million US$ at the time of completion). The bridge is 1,380 metres (4,530 ft) long, slightly longer than the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, with a main span of 1,310 metres (4,300 ft). It has two lanes for cars and one for bicycles and pedestrians.
